Birthday Party for the Homeless
Homelessness is more than not having a roof over your head. It affects every part of your life. Many homeless people watch their birthdays come and go uncelebrated. This is an opportunity to let them know that they are valued, cared about and not forgotten.
It will be a festive celebration including a barbeque, cake, ice cream, music, prizes/ gifts and even haircuts for the guests. We are hoping to serve about 150-200 people on Thursday, July 16, 2009.
We are looking for groups and individuals to Volunteer
Volunteer Opportunities
Setup and decorate
Greeters – to welcome guests
Table hosts/ hostesses – visit with guests at one of the tables (2 people together)
Training will be provided
Hair Cutting - Bring scissors, clippers, spray bottle and drape
Foot washing and/ or pedicures - Individuals or group
Food Servers - Individuals to help serve food to guests at tables and those sitting around
Christian Musicians
Group interested & able to handle the food portion of the party (plan for 150–200)

Donate Items for the Party
Birthday party goods – tablecloths, plates, napkins, balloons, etc, things to decorate 10x10 canopies
Foot care items – socks, lotions, pedicure kits or items, nail clippers, files, flip-flops
Items to be given as “door prizes” – bus passes, phone cards, new shirts, gift cards
General items – mints, gum, lip balm, toothbrush, toothpaste, spray on hair conditioner for wet or dry hair
Signed birthday cards – with a special note
